The Mental Health and Addictions Service at St. Michaels Hospital provides a range of high quality integrated interprofessional mental health programs, and contributes to the academic mission of the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto. The Mental Health Service is an integral part of the hospitals Inner City Health Program. Clinical components include a multimodal Psychiatric Emergency Service, a 33 bed Inpatient Service, a comprehensive Community Mental Health Service, a Medical Psychiatry Consultation Service and specialized services in Geriatric Psychiatry and in HIV related disorders. An array of high quality educational activities are offered, and research foci include psychiatric aspects of HIV/AIDS, suicide studies and mental health systems research. Clinician scientists participate in the Centre for Urban Health Solutions and the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute, facilities which provide infrastructure for research and education.
